The Warriors will play the Moorpark Musketeers on Friday, Sept. 22 for WHS’s homecoming game.
The Warriors are 4-0 after defeating Birmingham last week in a 40-21 game, but head coach Tim Kirksey was not very pleased with his team’s performance.
“We really needed to clean up some things from last week, said Kirksey. “We practiced very well this week and feel like we can have success Friday night if we play for our teammates success before our own.”
Moorpark is also a talented team, as the Musketeers currently have a 3-0 record to start off the year. Before their week 4 bye, the Musketeers crushed Simi Valley in a 54-13 game.
“We prepared well this week,” said Kirksey. “[Our] players understand we will need to play as brothers to beat a talented Moorpark team.”
The Warriors are looking for revenge after they lost 35-31 last year at Moorpark High School. This time around, WHS has the crowd on its side at Warrior Stadium, where the Tribe should be pumped up and ready for the homecoming game.
“The Tribe has been awesome this year,” said Kirksey. “They are a big part of the energy that goes in to being successful on Friday nights. We will need everyone this week. It’s going to be a great game.”
